Temujin CAM Workflow

DROP

your files in the viewer

Files supported

3d: .stl, 2d: .dxf & .svg.

Part geometry supported

3D. the viewer will automatically orient the part such that the largest flat surface is oriented downward. Only one part/mesh is supported at the moment.

2D files handling

2D files are broken down into lines. The algorithm will attempt to make polygons out of those lines and select the largest one. It will extrude it and present it in the viewer

SETUP

the job

Verify the unit

Switching to inches will modify the default value of the settings.

Set the stock material height

Defaulted to the stock height.

Verify the part dimensions

You can resize the part on the fly by inputting new dimensions, untick the box to change the dimensions on one axis only. You can rotate the part if necessary.

Set the machine origin

The machine origin (orange arrows) is referenced by the viewer against the part origin (blue arrows).

ADD

the cutters

Cutter supported

For 2d: One Finishing Flat End Cutter,One Roughing Flat End Cutter. For 3d: One Ball End Cutter and One V End Cutter.

Roughing Cutter

This cutter will be selected first by the algorithm to cut as much material as possible. It will also be used if a surfacing needs to be done. The finishing cutter will be used to cut the leftovers and the part contours

Ball End Cutter & V End Cutter

If selected, those cutters will be used to perform a finishing pass on the 3d geometries of the part

Set the cutter settings

Cutter Diameter, Feedrate & Depth of cut are the critical settings. An horizontal stock to leave offset can be chosen for the roughing cutter

TUNE

the settings

Cutting Direction

Conventional or Climb cutting can be selected and applied separatly for inner pocketing and finishing passes.

Tabs

Tabs can be automatically created, their ratio against part perimeter chosen as well as their height.

Stock entering & Pocket strategy

Adaptive and Offset strategies are available for pockets milling. The stock entering is defaulted to helical ramp for Adaptive strategy but can be plunge for Offset strategy.

ENJOY

the automatic toolpath creation

Generate Toolpaths

Click the button, sit back and relax. The toolpath is being generated, it will take between a couple of seconds for simple shapes to a minute for the most complex ones. Once ready it will be displayed in the viewer.

You can click visible feature contours on the part: making it green restricts the toolpath creation to zones inside green contours. Making it red forbids toolpath creation inside of red contours

The underlying algorithm

Programmed by master control to generate toolpaths by all means necessary.

Machinability feedback

Areas than cannot be cut such as corners with a radius inferior to the radius of the tool will be indicated in red in the viewer.

GRAB

the GCODE

Get GCODE

Click the button and snatch the coveted GCODE file.

GCODE generation options

The file content is made of G0/G1 commands. It is optionally possible to add the spindle start/stops commands and tool select command.
